Advanced Concrete Pumping was contracted to pump and place the concrete for the Kaiwaikawe Wind Farm which is 12km north-west of Dargaville. There are 12 turbines; seven in the northern cluster of the development and five turbines in the southern cluster. The turbines are the largest and tallest in New Zealand. 

Working for Higgins, closely alongside Brian Perry Civil, our team delivered 24 pours over 6 months and pumped over 10,0000m3 without any  mechanical failures or any other issues.  At each pour, there were two pumps operating, delivering over 100 m3 per hour, with the third pump introduced towards the finish to complete the plinth.  

Our placing team was also onsite to work on the complex foundations. With 500m2 of live concrete face to work on a gradient, bringing to a finished concrete height at the centre first working outwards and varied concrete mixes in the single pour all completed successfully. 

The complexity of this project required close coordination between Advanced Concrete Pumping, Brian Perry Civil and Firth.  Our long-standing relationship, built on trust, industry experience and robust communication, enabled us to execute every pour with the highest degree of precision and deliver successfully at each pour.
