The Abbott Residence is a multi-storey retirement living development constructed to an exceptionally high standard. Kalmar’s work on the project was recognised with a Silver Award at the 2024 New Zealand Commercial Project Awards.

Advanced Concrete Pumping was brought on by Kalmar to assit with both Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the development. The constrained site conditions required detailed planning and the use of placing booms and stationary pumps to complete pours safely, efficiently, and within strict programme requirements.

Large post-tension slabs were delivered within tight timeframes while adhering to site noise restrictions and construction scheduling demands.

Stage 1 was completed using a 33-metre placing boom supported by a 180-bar stationary pump. For Stage 2, increased pour volumes and structural complexity required two 33-metre placing booms operating in conjunction with the same high-pressure stationary pump.

The project demonstrated Advanced Concrete Pumping's capability to deliver large-scale structural pours on confined urban sites, while effectively managing environmental constraints, programme pressures, and complex pumping requirements on multi-storey construction projects.
